Our Kitty cats
This is my beautiful Rex. He was adopted through Siamese rescue in 2002 and his foster mother flew him all the way from Washington state to NY and then drove him to MA where I met her and picked him up. The top photo is of him as a kitten. He was 6 months old when we brought him home and he had been in foster care for about 6 weeks prior to that because his rescuer wanted to find just the right home for this big affectionate cat. Well he certainly found his home with us. He is the most kind cat and just a big floppy guy who loves to be picked up and held and petted. He's a lot like a Labrador!
Phoebe died in a tragic accident on 11/17/05. She is not gone, just gone on ahead. She lives forever in our hearts and memories. We miss her sweet face every minute of every day. She gave so much of herself to our family and I am forever grateful to her. Phoebe taught my oldest daughter the true meaning of love and kindness. Thank you Pheez. I will see you in heaven where you will be lying in the sun after eating your fill of pizza.
This little 5 lbs cat is Phoebe. We adopted her as an adult in January 1996. She had been a "street cat" living out of trash cans and behind pizza joints until she was struck by a car one rainy night. Lucky for her and for us a good samaritan picked her up and brought her to a local animal hospital where her trusting eyes and big purr won over the vet and techs and they patched her up. She then lived at the vet's office becoming a welcomer to people, dogs, and cats alike, however Phoebe is food crazy and so she began to rip open bags of pet food and pester everyone at lunch so she was offered for adoption. She is an amazing little creature who loves to sit on laps and eat just about anything. One of her favorites is popcorn. Phoebe is the most persistent animal I know and you can get up off the couch ten times and one the tenth return she will jump back and curl up once again. That tenacity must have kept her alive before she was lucky enough to find us.
This cat we call Piggy, not because he eats a lot but because it simply stuck. He is Cuffy's cat and has been for seven years. Piggy much prefers the company of the dogs especially his buddy Cuffy over us. He was found as a 4 week old kitten in a parking lot and a vet tech bottle fed him and I adopted him as a companion to my other cat at the time. Piggy is very independent and doesn't ask for much from us except food and a warm place to sleep. He definitely is not like our other cats and constantly "in your face" but he is a gentle cat who loves his catnip and is fun to watch leap for his toys.
This was my dear sweet Hector. He was the most wonderful cat in the world and I had the honor of being his best friend for 8 years. Click on his photo to read his tribute.
This was Meg. While we typically only take in kittens we were her foster home for a while. She had been living on her own in the woods for years. I thought she was feral and after catching her kittens I trapped her so I could have her spayed and placed in a feral colony. Much to my surprise she was gentle and friendly and actually liked dogs! She now has a well deserved family and a place to call home.
